“I  became a mother on September 27th, 2004

But my motherhood journey began the day I found out I was pregnant. Just prior to the conception of my daughter Jade, I had a near-death experience, almost freezing to death in the mountains of Colorado. This led to a great change in my life. I began to let go of giving other people or society the power to influence my life, and I began to listen to my heart and my gut.

My journey was deep and swift.

The first big change involved yoga. I bought books on spirituality and soon took my first yoga class and then immediately signed up for my first of several yoga teacher trainings.

To me, they go together — spirituality and motherhood. All that I learn about yoga and spirituality, I apply to being a mom. I feel as though I am being taught on the spot. Being a mother holds me accountable to my highest truth day-after-day, moment-after-moment.  My personal daily practice doesn’t waver no matter what is going on. It is what allows me to show up in the best way. My children bear witness to how it supports me in being the person I wish to be in the world.

This year brings wonderful shifts to my life, both personally and professionally.

TNHA has transitioned into being a nonprofit organization with an inspiring Council of Trustees who will guide the organization as it continues to serve the community for many years, hopefully, decades, to come.

I continue to evolve and grow.

I am presently in school studying to become a Doctor of Ayurvedic Medicine, a healing science that dates back over 5,000 years. This wish began when my eldest daughter was only a few months old. Now that my children are older and more self-sufficient, I can dive deeper once again. It is wonderful timing to have our business and our children in a place where I can devote time and energy to a dream, and also to undertake it with the support of my family and especially my children.
