EVERYONE LOVES the Snowmass Rec Center’s saltwater, solar-heated pool. The warmth of the water makes a big difference in the mountains during chilly morning swim lessons. The saltwater, which makes chlorine-use very minimal, results in a swim lesson experience that will not burn eyes or skin.
However, the best thing about Swim Lessons at the Snowmass Pool is the friendly, knowledgeable instruction. The pool design allows a limited amount of free-swimming during lessons, so teachers actually encourage parents to get in and swim with their child after class, in order to reinforce the lessons, rather than ushering participants out of the pool. This policy also works out well for older or younger siblings who enjoy some one-on-one swim time with Mom, Dad, Grandma, or other caregivers while other siblings are in class.
Red Cross-certified programming is designed to build confidence, safety, and skill in the water. Stroke development, “taking breaths,” and other skills progress to meet each swimmer’s developmental level.
