June – August
Full and half day sessions.
Workshops range from material-based and traditional artistic disciplines to interdisciplinary technology, animation, robotics and video. A small student-to-staff ratio supports each child to explore, imagine and develop new ways of thinking and developing creative perspectives. An example of one unique workshop for campers, ages 9 – 12, is the fast-paced Adventures in 3-D Printing workshop. Students will delve into the technology, and playfully examine the physical/digital divide. Campers learn computer-modeling programs to create furniture designs and other practical projects using Tinkercad and Sculptris. 3D printing is creative in nature but has real-world applications that the students learn. At the end of the course, campers celebrate their creations with a group show. Half day workshops for younger children, such as Up, Up and Away or Creature Creations, involve art-making that coordinates with storytime. Younger students also enjoy lessons about weather, animals and other topics to inspire creativity.
